The Chameleons
The story of The Chameleons began in 1981, when the band was discovered by legendary BBC presenter John Peel. Following their debut single In Shreds, they made their mark on the 1980s with three now-iconic albums: Script of the Bridge (1983), What Does Anything Mean? Basically! (1984) and Strange Times (1986).
Blending melancholy and energy with ethereal guitars and timeless lyrics, The Chameleons became one of the most influential bands of the post-punk, indie and shoegaze scenes of the 80s and 90s.
After several break-ups and reunions, the band reformed in 2021 around founding members Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies. Renowned for their intense and emotionally charged live performances, The Chameleons have shared stages with U2, Killing Joke, Bauhaus, Simple Minds, Talk Talk and The Cure.
In 2024, they released Where Are You?, their first single in over a decade, and began working on their new album Arctic Moon.
