“Your favourite dj’s favourite dj” - Fact! Mag

Being described by Fact! Magazine as “your favourite dj’s favourite dj” , Lefto has proven to be one of the most important tastemakers the old continent has to offer. Consistently ahead of your average early adopters, he doesn’t wait for the next thing, he seeks it out. No wonder he is affiliated to international labels such as Brownswood Recordings, Serato,101 Apparel, Boiler Room, BBE, Ninja Tune, R&S, Blue Note, Tru Thoughts, New Los Angeles and ! K7 Records.
After 20 years on Belgium’s foremost national FM radio station Studio Brussel - a show that won 4 x Best Radio Show at the Red Bull Elektropedia Awards and received critical acclaim from Rough Trade, Gilles Peterson, MTV and many others - Lefto decided to leave the station to join underground radio station Kiosk Radio in the heart of Brussels, a station that broadcasts from a wooden shack in the park. “Think outside the Kiosk” is the name of the new show and broadcasts on The Lot Radio in NYC. And a new saturday night weekly on WorldwideFM.
Devoted to the future of music but keeping an ear in the past, Lefto’s background is firmly rooted in jazz, new beat, acid, house and rap music and he sharpened his sensibility working at the local record store in Brussels. That passion resulted in a release on Blue Note.
Famed for taking his crowd on a journey from Jazz to Ghetto Tech and blessing sound systems around the globe with regular nights in Japan, South-Korea, USA and Europe, he also curates his own nights in Belgium and hosts a stage at Dour Festival, the European Award winning festival.
His travels resulted in several compilations on notable labels including Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings, Universal Belgium & Universal France and BBE and a couple releases of own productions for Music Mania, New Los Angeles with Free The Robots and Santa Ana’s 101 Apparel with Kutmah and J.Rocc. Spring 2017 marked the airing of LEFTO IN TRANSIT, a 6 episode documentary series produced by Canvas TV for the local national tv station featuring Lefto as he visits the underground music scenes of Los Angeles, Chicago, Brussels, London, Seoul, and greater Belgium.
Early 2018 has seen the release of a Serato record containing exclusive tracks from Alloy (members of Badbadnotgood), Henry Wu, Mono/Poly, Cid Rim and many more.
September 2018 was a great month for young Belgian jazz music as Lefto compiled some of the best local jazz musicians’ music on a 2LP entitled “Jazz Cats” on Sdban Records.

The year 2019 saw the start of Lefto’s label “Royale Records”, the first release came from a young electronic producer Annie Pleasure and he started a series for Red Bull Elektropedia about underground scenes in not so obvious cities around the world.
He also contributed to the album “Wie Is Guy?” the album of one of Brussels’ best rappers Zwangere Guy, and during the pandemic Lefto released another record with Ghent based rapper Spreej.

Another release saw the light at the end of 2020 via Royale Records, Nag & Title “Puinhoop”.
In 2021/2022 Lefto is ready to release more music as well as other related projects and compilations on the legendary British label BBE and a follow up to “Jazz Cats” on Sdban Records.
